First of all you can go to closeout stores. Many times they are advertised online and you can find them in your area. Manufacturers are selling off their extra bed frame stock all the time to make place for the new wares. What you get here are brand new frames for quite cheap.

Go check out your local newspaper in the relevant small ads section. People are selling their bed frames any time they want to buy a new bed. For example if they had a full bed and now want to change to a queen size bed, the frames no longer match. So if you're searching for a full cheap bed frame, you're in luck. This might turn out to be the easiest way to actually get a cheap bed frame fast.

If you have a local thrift store, go check it out. One caveat here is that these stores only have metal bed frames, but you might be just looking for one like it. Just be sure to check the condition of the frame, check the welded corners that they still hold together and that the welds are still going strong. You might find a good one at around $20 or even less.

Check the ads online. Many companies advertise cheap bed frames all the time and you might be in luck to get a great discount this way. Actually this is how I found my own latex mattress topper for my bed, by clicking on an ad. It got delivered to me from the side of the country within 3 days and the price was great as well.

You can also find cheap bed platforms at Ikea if you have one around your area, or go to craiglist, but this last one has always used items.

And finally, you can make your own cheap bed frame. Yes, that's right, if you have the right tools and materials, you or your husband or dad can make it quite easily and cheap. Basically all you need to do is buy a sheet of plywood and cut some 2x8s that will support the sheet. This allows creating a pillar by cutting holes halfway in the middle, which can be then interlocked in X style that will create the frame. Basically the mattress will be sitting on the top of this frame which holds it quite strongly. When you want to move it, it's quite easy to transport. All you need to do is take the Xs apart and stack them for moving. Some people even use 2x4s instead of 2x8s, that works as well.
